RecipeMe ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application RecipeMe (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address: For account creation and authentication
• Authentication credentials: Encrypted password or OAuth tokens (Google, Apple Sign-In)
• User profile information: Name and any optional profile details you provide

1.2 Photos and Images

When you use our ingredient detection feature:

• Photos: Images you capture or select from your photo library
• Image metadata: Information embedded in photos (may include timestamp, camera settings)
• Images are processed by AI to detect ingredients and are stored temporarily for recipe generation

1.3 Recipe and Usage Data

• Saved recipes: Recipes you choose to save to your account
• Seasonings inventory: List of spices and seasonings you add to your profile
• Generated recipes: Recipes created based on your detected ingredients
• Dietary preferences: Any dietary restrictions or preferences you configure

1.4 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Usage data: App features used, session duration, crash reports
• Log data: IP address, access times, app errors and performance data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

2.1 Core App Functionality

• Process your photos to detect ingredients using AI technology
• Generate personalized recipe recommendations based on detected ingredients
• Store your saved recipes and seasonings inventory
• Provide recipe suggestions tailored to your preferences and available ingredients

2.2 Account Management

• Create and manage your user account
• Authenticate you when you sign in
• Communicate with you about your account or the App
• Process account deletion requests

2.3 App Improvement

• Analyze usage patterns to improve app features and user experience
• Monitor and analyze trends to enhance app performance
• Debug issues and fix bugs
• Track and prevent fraud or misuse

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our App:

3.1 Supabase (Database and Authentication)

• Purpose: User authentication, data storage, and backend services
• Data shared: Email, authentication credentials, saved recipes, seasonings, user profile

• Purpose: Monitor app crashes and errors to improve stability

3.4 Apple/Google Authentication Services

• Purpose: Enable Sign in with Apple and Google OAuth login
• Data shared: Email address, name (as provided by Apple/Google)

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Data Storage

• Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers with encryption at rest
• Photos are stored temporarily and may be deleted after recipe generation
• Database access is protected with row-level security policies
• We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information

4.2 Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account
• Photos: Stored temporarily during processing, then deleted or stored with your saved recipes
• Recipes: Retained as long as you keep them saved
• Log data: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging and analytics

4.3 Security Measures

• HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmission
• Encrypted password storage using industry-standard hashing
• Secure authentication tokens with automatic expiration
• Regular security audits and updates

Note: While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

5.1 Access and Portability

• View all your personal data stored in the App
• Export your saved recipes and seasonings data
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

5.2 Correction and Updates

• Update your profile information at any time
• Modify your dietary preferences and seasonings
• Correct any inaccurate personal information

5.3 Deletion Rights

• Delete individual items: Remove saved recipes or seasonings anytime
• Delete account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data through the Account settings
• Account deletion is immediate and irreversible
• All your data (recipes, photos, seasonings, profile) will be permanently deleted within 30 days

5.4 Data Processing Objection

• Stop using photo analysis features by not uploading photos
• Opt out of analytics by disabling in Settings (when available)

6. Children's Privacy

RecipeMe is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. We will take steps to delete such information from our servers.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

By using RecipeMe, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

8. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to Know: Request information about data collected, used, and shared
• Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
• Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercise your rights without discriminatory treatment

To exercise these rights, use the account deletion feature in the App or contact us at the information provided below.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Sending you an email notification (for material changes)

Your continued use of the App after changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that may affect your personal information, we will:

• Notify you within 72 hours of discovering the breach
• Describe the nature of the breach and data affected
• Provide guidance on protective measures you can take
• Report the breach to relevant authorities as required by law

11. Do Not Track

We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals from web browsers. We do not track users across third-party websites or apps.

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any information.
